This is a gorgeous handbag or small wristlet, is made of silver or nickel silver mesh material. The metal is not sterling silver. Marked Germany, alpaca, which is the word for nickel silver, and what looks like weld mesh. The bag is in very good condition with tarnishing and there are two slight holes. Where are the mesh joints the part of the bag that opens up on the sides. Can you imagine carrying something so intricately made? Obviously made for a woman of means of the time, this fabulous little bag would’ve been all she needed to carry with her for everything. The lady needed at that time could fit into a small wristlet bag such as this. There was definitely no Victorian lady carrying around a large Louis Vuitton.
