This amazing Victorian hot box is missing its lid. I can’t quite figure out if somebody created this with the chain on the inside as a type of purse, handbag, or basket. The decorative details on it are really beautiful. The inside has old color, fashion drawings, decoupage on the inside. There is a brass chain in the center and decorative brass details apply to the exterior, beautiful stylized leaves and floral detail. At each end, there is a lion with a ring in its mouth and the decorative detail is on the back as well. This is an absolutely fabulous piece. Perfect with some greens in it. Very unique box. Probably dating to the late 1870s. The box measures in total about 13 and three-quarter inches wide. The opening at the widest part is 12 1/2“ x 11“. It is a total of nine and three-quarter inches tall at the tallest point, and 8 1/4 inches tall at the smallest part. The box has beautiful wear on the exterior, but is in solid condition. Very usable for many more years as a decorative item.
