Amazing Antique Louis Vuitton steamer trunk. This is a genuine Louis Vuitton dating to the 1870s. It has its original label inside and even the key for locking it. All the brass studs and the side handles are marked with an LV or Louis Vuitton. The piece is clean interior missing its interior tray. Louis Vuitton trunks are so incredibly rare that finding even one is like finding a unicorn. Louis Vuitton created luggage both with and without his signature logo wrapping. Originally Louis Vuitton created trunks without the LV marking but when competitors started copying his designs they came up with in the late 1800s the LV monogram which we now see you today all over handbags and similar trunks . This trunk is from a Boston Estate and is labeled on the side Wells Boston. The trunk is in good condition it has one area of damage to the right side metal banding at the top corner where it appears to be missing the fasteners but the band is there. There is some areas of damage to the canvas and staining inside and out. All in all the trunk is an extremely good condition for its age. It is 20 inches deep by 12 1/2 inches tall by 40 1/2 inches long
