This is absolutely amazing and very rare French steamer trunk is by the company JH MerMilliod. They are trunks were made on the same street as Louis Vuitton this trunk is modeled I believe after a Louis trunk so it definitely looks the part. If you’re looking for something that shows as a Louis Vuitton, but is not a Louis Vuitton then this trunk is for you.
These trunks are highly sought after by collectors because of their shape and style. This piece is 26 inches tall by 39 1/8 inches long by 22 1/2 inches deep. It is not perfect. There is some damage to the front lock, which appears to have been disabled. a piece of the wood slating has been broken at the top and there are some paint and water stains at the top as well.
The interior is fairly clean. Please see photos. There are some original labels on the sides and both handles are intact. All in all the trunk is in very good condition. It is a statement piece for sure. This piece is stored offsite and can be picked up in our Princeton, Massachusetts location or are Hudson Massachusetts location after purchase. We store this item off site so it can be brought for pick up to the location of your choice. Dates to the late 1800s
