This amazing and rare English apothecary cabinet is the stuff of dreams if you love pieces with drawers. I love this piece but you do have to have the room for it. This piece is from Liverpool England, and the name of the apothecary is actually on the side of one of the drawers. it has most of its original glass knobs but there have been replacements over the years. Some of the glass knobs are hand blown, Others are early 1900 replacements. This piece dates to the late 1800s. All of the drawers are constructed in dovetail with coffered bottoms. A very precise and high quality construction.
Most of the labels are intact, though at some point in their past had been painted over, which makes reading them rather hard. It is a tremendous focal point.
it has 125 drawers in total. One of the larger drawers at the bottom row is missing its bottom. There are four drop front sections at the very bottom, which were probably used for storage. Those handles are broken on all but one. The piece has three sections total. The middle section has been cut down the middle, which was required in order to get it out of the space it was housed in. This does not distract from the piece as you can see, you can’t even tell. These items were likely built on site in that time. You can tell that they was probably other sections of it as well That had once been part of it.
it is absolutely stunning definitely unique and a complete conversation piece. It is 72 1/2 inches tall by 99.5 inches long. It is roughly 10 inches deep.
